I am a scientist, educational developer and researcher. My work bridges the natural sciences, higher education and inclusive practice. Originally trained as a biologist, I moved into discipline-based education research, and I now bring together scientific rigour, educational theory and practical experience in everything I do.

I have taught, researched and led professional development at some forty institutions across seventeen countries, and I mentor university educators in their teaching practice and in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Throughout, I take a data-to-action approach that connects research to concrete educational improvement: the courses and workshops I design are informed by my research, and are themselves objects of it. I lead an ongoing programme on inclusion at academic conferences whose initiatives have been adopted at successive international conferences and taken up beyond academia.
